Hi my name is Jemma. I have over 13 years’ experience working as a fully qualified Make-Up Artist and Therapist. I have a home salon based in Buxton, Derbyshire that provides a professional, relaxed and comfortable setting for a wide range of treatments. I am also able to provide treatments for home visits, pamper parties, and make-up lessons as well.

I trained for Make-Up at the prestigious London School of Beauty and Make-up in 2002 having gained experience prior as a Beauty Therapist. After five of years of working as a freelance artist I decided to run my own salon in Buxton as I missed the beauty element and combining the two for me is a perfect combination.

I have worked as a Make-Up Artist in the UK, Thailand and Spain and in different areas of Make-up from, body painting, TV, Music Videos, fashion/ photographic and catwalk. My forte is Bridal Make-up and Close up beauty shots, I love to make faces look enhanced of their natural beauty.

Over the years I have worked in a variety of salons and spas, such as Hilton, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols, working with a wide range of products and treatments. I really enjoy keeping up with new treatments and latest trends within the industry. It sounds clique, but I love my Job and enjoy making people feel relaxed and pampered whether it be waxing, tattoo removal or bridal make-up.

Over the past 10 years my career within the industry has given me a wealth of experience, working in salons and gaining my NVQ assessors qualification going on to teach others to become stylists.

When working with clients I have always loved the challenge of creating hair ups for special occasions, however when researching ideas whilst planning of my own wedding my passion for developing bespoke wedding hair and makeup looks for brides was ignited. In order to offer brides a dual package I have since developed my skills to include makeup, training with the Davinia Fermi Makeup Academy. The training from their professionals alongside my own wealth of hairdressing experience has provided me with invaluable knowledge and helped turn my passion into a career. ​

I started my journey in bridal hair during lockdown in 2019, having always had a passion for hair since i was young. I came across Hannah Taylor, an award winning hair stylist, who had just started an online training education course during this time. I signed up to her course and rapidly started learning new techniques, new skills, built up my hair kit and I spent almost every day of lockdown practising. Since then, I have attracted brides with my work and I am proud to say my hair styling business has progressed and improved considerably. In 2022, I was lucky enough to win an award for best hair and beauty in the East Midlands at the ‘I Do’ Wedding Awards- ‘I Do’ being one of the largest wedding exhibitions in the UK. I love meeting new brides who become friends for life and i love providing such an excellent service on their wedding day- not to forget my huge excitement and dedication to creating gorgeous and dreamy hair styles!
